Interdisciplinary Connection Map

This is a map of our interdisciplinary connections.  This shows the schools in our COL (which is pretty new), the agencies that support our school, and finally community agencies that we have connections with.

I want to focus specifically on the CoL that we are part of.  This is relatively new, and our leaders have been trying to get us to go observe other schools.

This has just begun.  I've been to visit 2 teachers at a college, and one of them is coming to visit and observe my class in a couple of weeks.  I'm going to visit a kindy and another school this week.  Because our CoL has a range from early childhood up to College teachers, we're going to have a huge range of people and specific focus' and feelings about others and their skills.
One other thing that we've done is Maths professional development among the schools.  Because different teachers are at different stages, then they attend the training for their stage.  This means I'm with other second year teachers at the moment.  There has been a certain amount of collaboration, but not too much.

I hope that more collaboration will help us to not feel so precious about our little silos.  I hope that we also are focused on good pedagogy and not just trying to say our place is the best.

We already have some things that cross over in the CoL- RAAYs, Sports events, KapaHaka, Virtuoso Strings,

The RAAYs process is the way we track truancy among our schools.  All students, whether or not they move to another school, will still be on the same stage of the process.
We often compete against each other at cluster sports events.  Also, there are some cross overs in the arts services- KapaHaka and the violin group- Virtuoso Strings.

I guess that the major decision making will be done by the leaders and the cross school experts.  It's their job to do most of the planning and visioning.  Mind you, they do work on feedback from the staff and what the staff need.  But also, on the other hand, I guess we don't always know what we don't know.

I guess, I hope to make professional relationships and have a group of people I can go to in different contexts who can help me and give different perspectives on similar problems we have happening.

Time will Tell...
